The Gujarat Titans (GT) got the better of the Rajasthan Royals (RR) in Match 52 of the 2026 Indian Premier League, winning by 77 runs at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium on Saturday, May 9. The 2022 champions have risen to second in the points table after today’s victory.

RR’s stand-in captain, Yashasvi Jaiswal, put GT into bat, with the visitors posting 229 runs on the board, thanks to their openers, Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan. The duo put 118 runs on the board for the first wicket from 10.5 overs, scoring 84 and 55 respectively. Washington Sundar provided them with the finishing touch, hitting an unbeaten 37 off 20 balls in the death overs.

The hosts were never really in the game in the second innings, losing wickets at regular intervals. Vaibhav Sooryavanshi did give them a quick start before being dismissed for 36. All-rounder Ravindra Jadeja scored 38 in the middle order but lacked any support from the other end. Rashid Khan was the pick of the GT bowlers with four wickets to name, while Jason Holder and Kagiso Rabada took three and two scalps, respectively.

Key Moments of the game:

1. Stylish Shubman Gill lights up Jaipur

Shubman Gill once again showed that style and elegance can also be equally rewarding in T20 cricket as brute force. The GT captain played some beautiful-looking cricket shots to score 84 off 44 balls, an innings which comprised nine fours and three sixes. He forged a 118-run opening partnership with Sai Sudharsan to put GT in the ascendancy.

2. Mohammed Siraj becomes Vaibhav Sooryavanshi’s latest first-ball victim

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi has made a habit of scoring a six off the first ball he faces from an international bowler. He did it to Jasprit Bumrah and Josh Hazlewood, and has now hit Mohammed Siraj for a six off his first ball too. The 15-year-old also hit a massive six off Kagiso Rabada. He ended up scoring 36 off 16 balls before Siraj got the better of him eventually.

3. Rashid Khan deceives RR batters with his spin

Rashid Khan returned to his brilliant best in Jaipur to help GT secure their fourth consecutive win in this year’s IPL. The Afghanistan spinner knocked the stumps of both high-flying Dhruv Jurel and the dangerous Donovan Ferreira in one over to put his side in the driver’s seat in the second innings.
