Sunderland vs Chelsea prediction
Sunderland and Chelsea are still bang in contention for European qualification with one game to go in the Premier League season.
These are heady days for the Black Cats who only got promoted to the top flight last summer.
To be in with a shout of qualifying for Europe on the final day, is testament to the manager Regis Le Bris who has masterminded this massive turnaround at the club.
Sunderland sit in 10th place but just two points behind eighth-placed Chelsea. Le Bris’ side beat the Blues at Stamford Bridge back in October and will fancy their chances on home soil where they’ve eight of 18 home games this season.
Chelsea bounced back from the FA Cup defeat to Man City with a victory over arch-rivals Spurs at Stamford Bridge.
But with Xabi Alonso set the take charge of the club from next season, will the players be ‘on the beach’? Or will there motivation be at a place to secure some kind of European football for their new gaffer to walk into?
Sunderland vs Chelsea betting tips
Black Cats to purr on home soil
For Sunderland to even have a sniff of qualifying for Europe is a minor miracle in itself.
But the club’s recruitment in the summer was smart and met the demands of a growing physically and intensity in the Premier League that some clubs weren’t adapted to.
To have the chance of ending their season in front of their own fans with three points is motivation in itself. It may be where this tightly-contested game swings in their favour.
To then qualify for European competition would be a *very* big cherry on top.
Brobbey dazzler!
Brian Brobbey’s debut season in the Premier League has been an impressive one.
The Dutchman, who is hoping to be named in the Netherlands World Cup squad on May 27, has bagged seven goals.
He may have bit between his teeth to do all his can to help fire his club into Europe and then make the plane to north America this summer with his country.
