Stars’ Miro Heiskanen, Roope Hintz both likely out until playoffs
The Dallas Stars have just two games left in the regular season and have already locked up a first-round matchup with the Minnesota Wild, with home-ice advantage. Last time the Stars faced the Wild, Miro Heiskanen left the game with an injury.
As the Stars prepare for their first-round playoff series, scheduled to begin April 18, the team has provided injury updates on both Heiskanen and Roope Hintz.
“We’ll see how the next three to four days go,” coach Glen Gulutzan said, speaking of Heiskanen. “We’ve got a week here to see how he feels and see if he gets back on the ice. We’re hopeful, but we know it’s not the regular season for sure.”
Heiskanen left the game in the first period last Thursday against the Minnesota Wild. He is hopeful to be back for the first game of the playoffs, but will not play against the Toronto Maple Leafs on Monday or the Buffalo Sabres on Wednesday. The blueliner has led the team in icetime this year, playing 25:38 per game in his 77 games so far. Further, he has nine goals and 54 assists so far this year.
Meanwhile, Hintz has not played since March 6.
“We’ll get a better read here. We’re kind of just going week by week with him and seeing where he’s at,” general manager Jim Nill said.
Hintz is also not a definite for Game 1 against the Wild, according to Nil. He has played just 53 games so far this year, but is still fifth on the team in points, finding the back of the net 15 times while adding 29 helpers.
The Stars are 48-20-12 on the year, locking them into second in the Central Division, behind the Presidents’ Trophy-winning Colorado Avalanche.
