Not only that, but the young center will be eligible for the awards this season. He took part in his 65th game this season, completing the requirement to be in firm consideration for the MVP and DPOY awards on top of being on any All-NBA team.

Wembanyama achieved it in style, torching the Mavericks on both sides of the ball. In 26 minutes of action, he finished with 40 points, 13 rebounds, five assists, two blocks, and a steal. He shot 14-of-23 from the field, including 2-of-7 from beyond the arc, and 10-of-11 from the free-throw line.

“Victor Wembanyama comes back from his rib injury and delivers while also qualifying for MVP, All-NBA, and DPOY,” NBA insider Brett Siegel wrote.
