Spurs guards Dylan Harper, Stephon Castle’s Game 3 heroics join Kevin Durant, Russell Westbrook company

The San Antonio Spurs picked up a crucial Game 3 win Friday night, using a monumental performance from their young backcourt to take control of their first-round series vs. the Portland Trail Blazers.

San Antonio took down Portland 120–108 at the Moda Center to take a 2–1 series lead, overcoming an early deficit without Victor Wembanyama through a composed and consistent effort.

Stephon Castle finished with 33 points and five assists, leading the team offensively. Dylan Harper added 27 points and 10 rebounds off the bench, including 22 points in the second half as the Spurs worked their way back into the game.

San Antonio trailed by 15 points in the third quarter before putting together a 21–5 run to shift momentum. The stretch gave the Spurs the lead heading into the fourth, with Castle and Harper playing central roles in the turnaround.

As a result, Castle and Harper became just the second duo age 21 or younger to accomplish the feat, joining Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook, who first did so during the 2010 playoffs.

Luke Kornet contributed 14 points and 10 rebounds for San Antonio. For Portland, Jrue Holiday led the way with 29 points in the team’s first home playoff game since 2021.

The Spurs enter Game 4 with momentum and an opportunity to build on their series lead, with their young, dynamic duo setting the tone for what’s ahead.
