Spurs’ De’Aaron Fox, Knicks’ Jalen Brunson exchange words during physical Game 2 clash
Things are getting very chippy in Game 2 of the NBA Finals clash between the San Antonio Spurs and New York Knicks. Both teams know what is at stake and not willing to relent a single inch. The story of the game thus far has been the Knicks’ resilience and composure, as they have overturned a double-digit deficit yet again to control the game for the majority of its duration.
With the Spurs looking to turn the tables on the Knicks early on in the fourth quarter, De’Aaron Fox got right into Jalen Brunson’s grill. Fox shoved Brunson, and the Knicks star didn’t take too kindly to this. After the officials blew the whistle, Fox had some words for Brunson as the two stared into each other’s soul as they smoldered in the fire of competition.
The officials quickly tried to separate the two, and Mikal Bridges gave Fox a light nudge to just let him know that the Knicks aren’t going to allow anyone from the Spurs to rough up their star. Moreover, Knicks assistant Rick Brunson, Jalen’s father, came all the way from the other end to assert his influence on this exchange involving his son.

Fox is the elder statesman of this Spurs core and he’s doing his best to infuse the team with the requisite energy as they try to avoid going down 2-0 in the series. Both teams have been playing very physical defense, and for the most part, the officials have been letting the players play through considerable contact. This undoubtedly led to this exchange between Fox and Brunson.
At the time of writing, the Knicks still have the lead, but the Spurs are hot on their tail. Fox has been a catalyst behind the Spurs’ comeback attempt, and he’s been much better in Game 2 — scoring 20 points on 8-12 shooting.
