Sophie Cunningham accuses Angel Reese of immature behavior as ex gets last laugh – ‘move on’

The WNBA season hasn’t tipped off yet, and shots are already being fired.

Indiana Fever star Sophie Cunningham has called out fellow WNBA player Angel Reese after her actions during the first round of the NBA playoffs.

The seven-game first round series between the Orlando Magic and Detroit Pistons was captivating enough, but one of the most intriguing storylines stemmed from off the court.

Atlanta Dream star Reese, ready to embark on her first season with the franchise after a trade from the Chicago Sky, is currently dating Magic forward Wendell Carter Jr.

However, she reportedly had a brief fling with Pistons star Jalen Duren back in 2024.

Carter Jr. and Duren were matched up against each other for most of the series.

Reese was very clearly keeping a close eye on her current and former fling, evidenced by the fact she reposted a video of Carter Jr. dunking on Duren during game one.

Reese’s action was a recent topic on Cunningham’s ‘Show Me Something’ podcast.

The podcast’s producer explained the backstory of Reese’s love triangle, and noted her reposting the dunk video.

He implied that Duren’s numbers during the Magic series were mediocre compared to the regular season, inferring that being matched up against Carter Jr. was the reason.

“Is it real? Like, has [Duren] come out and said something that’s why [Duren has struggled?],” Cunningham replied.

“Something had to have happened for [Reese] to keep, I don’t know, wanting to embarrass him in some way.”

“Or nothing happened!” Cunningham’s co-host, West Wilson, said.

Cunningham added, “But then move on! Worry about the current boyfriend.”

Duren gets the last laugh over Carter Jr.

In a similar scenario to the Philadelphia 76ersBoston Celtics series, Detroit found themselves 3-1 down and staring down the barrel of elimination.

They would go on to erase the deficit, booking their spot in the Eastern Conference semifinals, where they are currently 1-0 up against the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Duren put up a great performance in game seven, racking up 15 points and 15 rebounds for Detroit, and Pistons fans made their thoughts on the matter clear.

During the final-game blowout, fans started chanting ‘Angel Reese’ which seems even more ironic after Duren and the Pistons advanced and Carter Jr. headed home.

Reese has yet to respond to either the chants or Cunningham’s comments, with her eyes firmly set on the start of the WNBA season on Friday.

The two-time WNBA All-Star was traded to the Dream in exchange for two first-round picks, one in the 2027 and the other in the 2028 draft.

In two seasons in Chi-Town, Reese averaged 14.1 points and 12.9 rebounds to go along with 2.7 assists and 1.4 steals.

The stunning trade came after months of speculation over Reese’s future after the disgruntled star was outspoken when expressing her feelings about the Sky as an organization after they could on muster 10 wins in the 2025 season.
