Close relationship

Arblaster is currently part of Wilder’s first-team squad at Bramall Lane having come through the club’s academy.

The midfielder has made 47 first-team appearances for the Blades.

Of those, 42 have been under Wilder, who gave Arblaster his Premier League debut aged 20 back in March 2024.

He featured as a substitute during a 6-0 home defeat to Arsenal before going on to captain the side just a month later.

The 22-year-old has featured 17 times in the Championship so far this season since returning from injury.

Arblaster was sidelined for 13 months before making his comeback from a torn ACL in December.

A former England Under-20 international, he is contracted with the Blades until 2028.

Meanwhile, Wilder is now in his third spell in charge at Bramall Lane.

The 58-year-old returned to the club in September, replacing Ruben Selles in the dugout.

It came just three months after Wilder had been sacked as manager at the end of last season.

His exit followed Sheffield United’s play-off final defeat to Sunderland at Wembley Stadium.

Wilder had guided the Blades from League One to the Premier League during his first stint as manager.

However, supporters will have to wait until next season for another chance at promotion to the top-flight.

The Blades are out of reach of the play-off places in 17th with four Championship matches remaining this season.

They are all but safe from relegation, with a ten-point gap between themselves and the bottom three.

Wilder’s side travel to another of his former club’s on Saturday as they face Watford at Vicarage Road.
