Seahawks rumors: What Adam Schefter is hearing about NFL Draft plans
The Seattle Seahawks have some big decisions to make during the 2026 NFL Draft. Seattle enters the draft with just four total selections, including the 32nd overall pick. The Seahawks need to use those picks wisely after losing multiple players during NFL free agency.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter shared what he is hearing about Seattle’s draft plans just days before the big event.
“Two of Seattle’s greatest needs are running back and … more draft picks,” Schefter wrote. “The Super Bowl champion Seahawks enter this week’s draft with only four picks — Nos. 32, 64, 96 and 188. The Seahawks could be looking to trade out of the first round to stockpile more selections.”
Seattle lost some of their best players after winning the Super Bowl. Kenneth Walker III left for the Chiefs, leaving a massive hole on the depth chart at running back.
Zach Charbonnet suffered a significant knee injury during the playoffs. That makes Seattle’s running back situation even more fraught heading into the draft. As such, it would not be surprising to see Seattle prioritize a new running back in the early rounds.
“Seattle could have its choice of many of this draft’s top backs this week, including Notre Dame’s Jadarian Price, Arkansas’ Mike Washington Jr. and Washington’s Jonah Coleman,” Schefter added. “But nobody would be surprised if the Seahawks move off the 32nd pick to land more picks and address the position a bit later in the draft.”
Trading down would make a ton of sense for the Seahawks. Seattle has several holes to fill on the roster, so adding more draft picks could be tempting. But that’s assuming the Seahawks can find a suitable trade partner.
It will be exciting to see how Seattle approaches the draft later this week.
