Scottie Scheffler in lead as Travelers Championship suspended for weather

The Travelers Championship at TPC River Highlands in Cromwell, Connecticut, has been suspended for rain with Scottie Scheffler in the lead. Collin Morikawa made an incredible birdie on the 18th hole to take the clubhouse lead. Scheffler leads by one as the tour hits pause on the tournament.

Scheffler and Viktor Hovland were in the 14th fairway when the horn blew on Sunday evening. According to PGA Tour rules official Mark Dusbabek, there is electricity in a passing storm, which caused the pause. The golfers were playing through an absolute deluge for nearly an hour before the horn sounded. That includes the final holes of Morikawa’s day.

Scheffler is searching for his second Travelers Championship victory and his second win of the 2026 season. His birdie on the par-5 13th put him in a one-shot lead just before the horn. Morikawa was nine strokes behind Scheffler when Sunday started, but made a charge to get into contention.

Hovland has had a lot of fan support this week, thanks to fans from Norway travelling to the US for the World Cup. Hovland has given them a great show, as has the soccer team. Norwegian fans are hoping for a Hovland win in Connecticut, leading into a Norway win in Dallas on Tuesday.

The Travelers Championship has a long history of playoffs and late-round dramatics. While there is plenty of sunlight left in the day, any extra holes will likely be on Monday at this rate. Stick with ClutchPoints throughout the Travelers for the latest updates.
