Steve Clarke‘s side have played pre-tournament friendlies against Curacao and Bolivia, winning both fixtures and scoring eight goals in the process.

Additionally, Scotland were meant to be playing Norway behind closed doors before the World Cup kicks off, however, the Norwegian FA confirmed that the Scots cancelled the match ‘due to injuries’.

Billy Gilmour was forced to withdraw from the 26-man squad after picking up an injury against Curacao, being replaced by Tyler Fletcher.

On the other hand, Haiti conceded two last minute goals to Peru as they lost their warm-up game ahead of facing Scotland, yet beforehand, they managed to dominate New Zealand 4-0.

Haiti v Scotland: What has been said?

Speaking before Haiti’s defeat to Peru, Clarke said: “They were really good the other night [against New Zealand].

“We’ve got a terrible habit, not just in Scotland, but in the UK in general, of looking at these nations and thinking they’re not very good, or [looking at] whatever their ranking in the world.

“But they play in a different section of the world, so maybe in their section, they’re really good.

“And if you watched them play the other night against New Zealand, they were much better.

“Big, strong, and physical, but also technical. They have good players who play in good leagues.

“I was never under any illusion, it was going to be a tough game, and it’s probably nice that some people get to see how they played the other night, because it’s going be a difficult game for us.”

Haiti’s qualifying route was far from easy after they were forced to play their home games at ‘neutral venues’, yet that didn’t stop them fending off Costa Rica, Honduras and Nicaragua to top their group.

Scotland will be favourites heading into the clash, but the Haitians will know how to cause an upset.

Jean-Ricner Bellegarde declared his national team allegiances for the Caribbean island, having been one of the stronger performers in a relegated Wolves side.

Additionally, other Premier League representation within the team includes Wilson Isidor, who in March 2026 switched international allegiance to Haiti, after scoring six goals for Sunderland this season.

Coincidentally for Scotland, Group C opponents Brazil and Morocco, were the two teams they faced during their last World Cup appearance.

Clarke’s team will look different to the previous European Championship squad, with the team fitted to play strategically on the left to fit Andy Robertson’s and Kieran Tierney‘s style.

However, due to the various injuries the former Arsenal player has faced this season, the manager has prepared to change the formation, playing three at the back in a friendly against the Ivory Coast, showing how the Tartan Army can adapt their gameplan.

There’s an array of alternatives upfront with Che Adams, who is playing abroad in Serie A for Italian side Torino.

Additionally, there’s the option of Lyndon Dykes, who provided the assist against Curacao, yet the big gun is Lawrence Shankland who had netted 20 times for Hearts in their title fight for the Scottish Premiership, coming days after his switch to Rangers.

George Hirst is a fourth choice for the Tartan Army, scoring 11 goals for Ipswich, aiding their promotion to the Premier League.
