Sandro Mamukelashvili puts on a show in glimpse of what he can do for Lakers

Sandro Mamukelashvili is not wasting time getting back to action following a trip to Slovenia with his new Los Angeles Lakers teammates.

Mamukelashvili recently hit the court and played for his country, Georgia, in an exhibition matchup against Israel at Otar Korkia and Nodar Jorjikia Tbilisi Sports Palace in Georgia on Sunday.

The 27-year-old Mamukelashvili had quite a performance in the Israel game. Together with Orlando Magic big man Goga Bitadze, Mamukelashvili led the way for Georgia to a 101–90 victory.

Mamukelashvili, who played college basketball for the Seton Hall Pirates, put up 20 points to go along with six rebounds, six assists and three steals.

Mamukelashvili is not going to enjoy that many touches on the court once he starts playing games for the Lakers, as he is mostly going to be serving a supporting role behind the likes of Luka Doncic and Austin Reaves.

But the meeting with Israel still shows a sneak peek of what he can bring to the table for Los Angeles, which went 53-29 in the 2025-26 NBA season, reached the second round of the playoffs, and got swept by the Oklahoma City Thunder.

The Thunder, San Antonio Spurs and Minnesota Timberwolves are some of the teams expected to be chief contenders for the Western Conference title in the coming season, but the Lakers shouldn’t be slept on, with Doncic about to fully take over as the clear face of the franchise following LeBron James’ offseason departure.

Still, guys like Mamukelashvili will be vital to the Lakers, who signed him to a four-year, $52 million contract in July.

Mamukelashvili is coming off his best season yet in the NBA, as he averaged 11.2 points, 4.9 rebounds, and 1.9 assists while shooting 52.3 percent from the field in 80 games in the 2025-26 campaign with the Toronto Raptors.
