Royals’ Bobby Witt Jr. gets ‘best case scenario’ injury update

Kansas City Royals star shortstop Bobby Witt Jr. exited the team’s game on Thursday against the St. Louis Cardinals with a knee injury. The Royals earned a 14-6 win, but all attention was on Witt’s injury after the game. Tricia Whitaker of Apple TV provided an update on Witt’s injury status on Friday before the Royals’ rematch with the Cardinals.

“Bobby Witt Jr got a MRI today and has a grade 1 MCL sprain,” Whitaker reported. “The Royals will see what he feels like on Sunday. Matt Quatraro told me in our meeting with him before our Apple TV broadcast tonight, it’s ‘best case scenario’ and they’re optimistic.”

It is a huge injury update to say the least. The Royals will obviously still proceed with caution, but things could have been much worse for Witt.

More to come on this story.
