Rory McIlroy hits Amen Corner tied with Justin Rose for the Masters lead

There are just eight holes left for the final group on Sunday at The Masters. Rory McIlroy is tied for the Masters lead with Justin Rose as he and Cam Young head to Amen Corner. McIlroy made a par on the tenth hole, the one that ended his chances 15 years ago, and is at 11-under par.

McIlroy made an early double bogey, opening up the tournament to a host of chasers. Among those is Rose, who has finished second at Augusta National three times, a record among those who have not won. One of those runner-ups was last year, when he lost in a sudden-death playoff to McIlroy on the 18th hole.

McIlroy has settled down after the double bogey he made on the par-three fourth hole. That includes salvaging a bogey on six after a poor drive and following that up with consecutive birdies. Amen Corner was not kind to McIlroy on Saturday, with a double bogey on 11 taking him out of the solo lead.

Amen Corner plays a big role in every Masters, including the 2025 tournament. McIlroy layed up on the par-five 13th but dumped his third shot into the tributary in front of the green. After dropping and playing the shot again, he made his fourth double bogey of the week. He became the first Masters champion to win with four double bogeys.

Rose is having his struggles on Amen Corner, making a bogey on 11 and hitting a poor tee shot on 12. Shortly after McIlroy teed off on 11, Rose finished out for his bogey on 12. That gave the defending champion the outright lead.
