Robert Lewandowski puts asterisk on Harry Kane goals with England star eyeing his Bundesliga record
Robert Lewandowski is keeping a watchful eye on the Bundesliga Golden Boot race this season.
But he’s not doing it to admire Harry Kane‘s ridiculous form in front of goal for Bayern Munich.

Instead, Lewandowski is waiting to see whether Kane will break the record for most goals scored in a Bundesliga season.
How many goals did Lewandowski score in his record-breaking season?
Lewandowski set the record during the 2020/21 campaign when he slammed home an absurd 41 goals in just 29 games.
At present, Kane has 30 goals from 24 games.
It means Kane must net 12 more times in Bayern’s ten remaining Bundesliga fixtures if he is to eclipse Lewandowski’s absurd record.
Yet Kane might have needed to score even more goals had Lewandowski completed the entirety of his record-breaking term.
“Harry Kane is scoring always so many goals and he’s playing really good and he’s doing a great job, and then I saw I did this in 29 games,” Lewandowski told Sky Sports.
“If I played 34 games, I can only imagine I could even score more!
“Because of him, I can be more proud of my record now!”
Lewandowski’s record-setting campaign was just of several seasons in which he terrorised rival defenders in the German top flight.
How many Bundesliga goals did Lewandowski score?
In fact, the Pole won the Bundesliga Golden Boot award seven times.

Robert Lewandowski's Bundesliga goal tally
2010/11 at Borussia Dortmund: 33 games, 8 goals
2011/12 at Borussia Dortmund: 34 games, 22 goals
2012/13 at Borussia Dortmund: 31 games, 24 goals
2013/14 at Borussia Dortmund: 33 games, 20 goals
2014/15 at Bayern Munich: 31 games, 17 goals
2015/16 at Bayern Munich: 32 games, 30 goals
2016/17 at Bayern Munich: 33 games, 30 goals
2017/18 at Bayern Munich: 30 games, 29 goals
2018/19 at Bayern Munich: 33 games, 22 goals
2019/20 at Bayern Munich: 31 games, 34 goals
2020/21 at Bayern Munich: 29 games, 41 goals
2021/22 at Bayern Munich: 34 games, 35 goals
Total: 384 games, 312 goals
Adding further to his legend, Lewandowski accomplished the feat in five consecutive seasons, beginning with the 2017/18 campaign and ending in 2021/22, which was his last term in the Bundesliga before he joined Barcelona.
At the time of Lewandowski’s departure, he had scored an absurd 312 goals in 384 Bundesliga fixtures.
The tally has Lewandowski sitting as the all-time non-German goalscorer in Bundesliga history, but he remains 54 goals shy of Gerd Muller’s all-time record.
How far away is Kane from Lewandowski’s records?
Unfortunately for Kane, he has a serious mountain to climb if he is to even come close to Lewandowski’s goalscoring feats.
To date, the England international has an impressive 92 goals in 87 Bundesliga fixtures.
However, Kane turns 33 in July, so time is not exactly on his side.

But even if Kane doesn’t surpass Lewandowski’s record for goals scored in a single Bundesliga season, he is poised to win the competition’s Golden Boot for a third-straight year.
The ex-Tottenham superstar’s tally of 30 goals is 16 clear of Stuttgart’s Deniz Undav, who is second in goalscoring standings.
Kane will look to inch closer to Lewandowski’s record on Friday as table-topping Bayern host Borussia Monchengladbach.
