Premier League Darts – Week 14 prediction

With just three weeks of the league phase remaining in this year’s Premier League, Luke Littler currently sits top of the table after winning his fifth final of the campaign last week in Aberdeen.

The two-time reigning world champion is looking for his second Premier League title after losing out in last year’s final, and comes up against seven-time champion Michael van Gerwen in the second match of the night on Thursday, in what is the standout quarter final.

Van Gerwen heads to Leeds occupying the fourth and final play off spot, with both Gian van Veen and Luke Humphries snapping at his heels sat just two points behind, making Thursday’s game something of a must win for the Dutchman in his bid for a top four finish.

The winner of that clash will take on the winner of the all Welsh affair between Jonny Clayton and Gerwyn Price, who come to blows in the opening match of the night.

The combination of fixtures means the top half of the draw contains each of the top four, and vice versa, leaving the pressure on Mighty Mike to pick up some needed points while there’s huge opportunity for those in the chasing pack.

The third quarter final of the night sees defending champion Humphries, just two points off the top four following his run to last week’s final, just the second time winning a semi final this year in his title defence, take on Josh Rock, who currently props up the table.

The Premier League rookie had lost his opening seven matches in the tournament this year but then made it to the semi finals in consecutive weeks, appearing to have turned a corner in his campaign but has since lost each of last three matches, including back to back 6-3 defeats in the last quarter final.

The final quarter final of the night sees Stephen Bunting, needing something drastic to overturn the seven point gap between himself and the top four, come up against van Veen, who sits in a far more promising position, sat in fifth and just two points off the play offs.

Littler has won the last two nights of Premier League action, which one would have thought puts him in prime form to make it a hat trick in Leeds this week but not since 2024 has anyone won three consecutive nights in the Premier League.

Humphries is getting close to must win territory and impressed in reaching only his second final last week, in which he lost 6-5 so is looking like hitting form at the right time, and a kind route to the final could leave him in a strong position for his first nightly victory.

Premier League Darts – Week 14 betting tips

Humphries on the up

Reigning Premier League champion Luke Humphries will be disappointed in the defence of his first title so far, currently languishing down in sixth in the table and at risk of not reaching the play offs later this month.

However, the world number two showed signs of being back to his best last week with a run to the final, where he lost 6-5 to Littler despite averaging 103, and threw the most maxmimums out of anyone on the night.

This week the Englishman has been given a kind route to the final, with no one in his half of the draw on more points than ‘Cool Hand’ as he looks to climb back into the top four and book his place at the play offs in London.

Jonny B Goode

Jonny Clayton has impressed hugely on his return to the Premier League after being overlooked in each of the last two editions.

The Welshman is one of two players to have already booked his ticket to London for the play-offs and has led the table for a large portion of the campaign, with four nightly victories so far.

‘The Ferret’ has thrown the highest checkout in two of the last three nights and with some tough opposition in his way on the clutch high checkouts could prove vital.

The 51-year-old also boasts the highest checkout percentage across the entire tournament this year.
