Pistons’ Tobias Harris’ playoff fade vs. Cavs will bring deja vu to 76ers fans
Tobias Harris was always made the scapegoat during his days with the Philadelphia 76ers. While he was a solid player with the team, there is no doubt that he had some rough postseason performances and was significantly overpaid. Even so, for the most part, he has been a blessing for the Detroit Pistons.
Including the postseason, the forward has started 156 games over the last two years since moving to Detroit. He has been a reliable veteran piece who does a little bit of everything for the team. He even got off to a hot start in the playoffs this year, changing his postseason reputation in the process.
Harris averaged 21.6 points per game in the first round matchup against the Orlando Magic. Then, he made 50% of his shots in the first three games of the conference semifinals. The Tennessee product was a +17 during that span and was averaging 20.6 points per game, so it appeared like he turned a new leaf when it came to postseason production. Then, Harris reverted back to his old ways, giving 76ers fans some deja vu in the process.
The New York native averaged just 10 points on 29% shooting over the final four games against the Cleveland Cavaliers. Harris completely lost his shooting stroke, as he made just 19% of his 3-point jumpers over those last four games. That equated to a -31 and directly resulted in Detroit’s postseason elimination, too.
Tobias Harris looked like a perfect veteran piece next to Cade early in series vs Cavs…but then, Cavs adjusted!
Mobley/Allen started crowding Harris’ space, forcing the ball out of his hands, and making every touch uncomfortable!
After that adjustment, entire series flipped!! pic.twitter.com/4WHAYNUifJ

The Pistons were the one seed in the playoffs this year, and their fanbase had high hopes for a deep postseason run. Instead, they have already been sent packing. Harris was largely to blame, and now Detroit fans have a better understanding of how the 76ers felt during his tenure with the team.
