Phillies’ Kyle Schwarber reaches career milestone with second-deck homer vs Giants
While the 2026 campaign has not gone the way that the Philadelphia Phillies planned, there have been bright spots. During the first game of a Thursday doubleheader against the San Francisco Giants, veteran slugger Kyle Schwarber reached a big career milestone with his first inning home run. Schwarber’s second deck bomb was the 350th of his career, per MLB Stats on X, formerly Twitter.

“350 career Schwarbombs
,” posted the league’s stats-focused page. “Kyle Schwarber is the 9th active player to reach 350 career home runs!”
The New York Yankees’ Giancarlo Stanton leads all active MLB players with 456 home runs, with the Los Angeles Angels’ Mike Trout in second with 414. Back-to-back AL MVP Aaron Judge is third with 380 round trippers. Others include Schwarber’s teammate, Bryce Harper, who is currently seventh with 369 career moonshots.
Despite Schwarber’s mammoth shot, the Phillies are currently down 2-1 in Thursday’s opening matchup. The offense has six hits but has been unable to string together some consistency. It’s a tale that has been told many times throughout Philadelphia’s first 29 games. If it continues to prove true during its 30th, then the Phils could continue to slide down the standings.
Manager Rob Thomson was the second skipper to lose his job, after the Boston Red Sox fired long-time bench boss Alex Cora. Both Boston and Philadelphia are expected to contend for postseason spots once again. The Phillies are looking to defend their NL East crown as well. Now, both teams have fired their managers in an attempt to turn their seasons around. Can Schwarber, Harper, and the rest of the Phillies offense get back on track? If they can, a return to playoff contention should be in their future.
