Patriots rumors: Insider floats Kayshon Boutte trade for eye-opening price
The New England Patriots have been tied to an AJ Brown trade all offseason. But if one receiver comes in, another might have to be traded away.
Kayshon Boutte has now found himself on the trade block. However, he may not fetch much beyond a late-round pick, via Albert Breer of Sports Illustrated.
“Patriots WR Kayshon Boutte, I think, could be had for a fifth- or sixth-round pick right now, if anyone has an interest in him,” Breer wrote.
Boutte is set to be a free agent after the season, which could be lowering his trade price. But at the same time, the Patriots may prefer to get some draft capital in return rather than letting the receiver walk for free.
Should he end up remaining in New England, Boutte’s role would be murky upon Brown’s arrival. The Patriots signed Romeo Doubs in free agency, meaning they’d be the outside receivers. Boutte could operate out of the slot, but New England has Mack Hollins and Kyle Williams amongst other options.
Over his three years with the Patriots, Boutte has caught 78 passes for 1,159 yards and nine touchdowns. During the 2025 campaign, he scored a career-high six touchdowns while making 33 grabs for 551 yards.
As New England chases another Super Bowl appearances, they may prefer to keep Boutte on the roster due to his playmaking abilities. But if/when the Patriots acquire Brown, they’ll need to evaluate their WR room differently. If the right offer is on the table, New England may be more inclined to make a deal. They’d hope what they get in return would be a bit more enticing though.
