Patrick Mahomes makes dad bod joke praising new Chiefs weapon Andy Reid thinks is ‘stronger than an ox’
The Kansas City Chiefs are getting a good look at one of their top offseason additions.
Kansas City has spent the offseason re-tooling following on from their disappointing 6-11 record last season, the worst in the Patrick Mahomes era.

Arguably their biggest edition was the signing of running back Kenneth Walker III, who inked a a three-year deal worth $45 million.
It was one of the Chiefs’ biggest offseason needs, and they were able to resolve it quickly with the Seattle Seahawks deciding to let Walker leave with little resistance.
Walker won Super Bowl MVP during a win over the New England Patriots in February’s big game, becoming the first running back to win the award since Denver Broncos RB Terrell Davis in 1998.
Walker rushed 27 times for 135 yards, and had two receptions for 26 yards against the Pats, and it could have been a lot more.
He had a 49-yard touchdown run called back by a holding penalty on center Jalen Sundell with 2:01 remaining in the game.
Reid and Mahomes impressed by Walker’s strength
With Walker now donning the iconic red and white of the Chiefs, it’s safe to say that Mahomes and head coach Andy Reid are impressed by what they have seen so far.
“First off, he’s a great dude,” Mahomes said, via A to Z Sports.
“I think that’s the first thing I noticed, like you can tell he truly cares about football, he cares about his teammates. If he’s not in the plays, helping the guys on the sideline, and he’s trying to learn, and asking me questions, doing those things.
“And then, he’s a great football player. I mean, even from what y’all saw today, like it’s special the way he’s able to run the football, catch the football, do everything.”
Mahomes, known for his viral ‘dad bod’, has taken notice of Walker’s surreal physique and strength.

“I’m kind of built like him,” Mahomes joked. “But not built like him just yet.”
“Yeah, he’s doing a good job,” Reid said of Walker. “He’s got a ton of energy, and you can tell he loves to play the game, wants to learn what we’re doing here.
“He’s coming from a great program, so he gets it. It takes work to be good, and he’s willing to do that. Stronger than an ox. I mean, he’s put together.”
Mahomes still has Week 1 goal
Part of the reason for Kansas City’s disappointing 2025 season is that quarterback Mahomes suffered a torn ACL and LCL in Week 14.
Exactly 100 days after his surgery, Mahomes posted a video of himself dropping back and throwing in what could be perceived as subtle warning to the rest of the league.
A return for the Week 1 clash against the Broncos has always been the target for Mahomes, and nothing has changed after the first week of OTAs.

“That’s always going to be the goal,” Mahomes said in a Thursday press conference, via NBC Sports.
“I don’t want to miss games. I mean, as a competitor, as a football player, I want to be there. I know it’s still a long ways away. I can’t predict the future.
“So, all I can do is be great today and then continue to be great tomorrow. But I’ve gotten to where I’ve gotten to because of that mindset.
“The goal at the end — the very far end — is to be ready and to able to go out there and play with the guys Week 1 at Arrowhead. But I’ve got to take it day by day.”
The Chiefs signed former New York Jets QB Justin Fields this offseason in case Mahomes isn’t ready to go by Week 1, but things seem to be progressing well for the three-time MVP.
