Paddy Pimblett slams Ilia Topuria in first response to UFC loss and makes Justin Gaethje rematch plea

Paddy Pimblett has teed off on Ilia Topuria after his defeat to Justin Gaethje at UFC White House.

Topuria was stunned in a monumental upset by Gaethje, as he lost his UFC lightweight title in front of US president Donald Trump on the lawn of the White House.

It was a brutal beating for Topuria, who left the cage and went straight to hospital, after being forced to retire with injuries in the fourth round.

‘El Matador’ becomes the second consecutive fighter to have been left in bad way by the American.

Pimblett himself was beaten by Gaethje, and likewise left with bad facial injuries, for which Topuria took aim at him in the aftermath on social media.

And now the British fighter has returned the compliment after the result was confirmed.

In his first response, he also asked Gaethje if a sequel could be on the cards for the undisputed lightweight title.

Pimblett, Topuria’s bitter rival, wrote: “The only thing you had to do was beat a 38 year old coming off of a 5 round war with me.

“Instead you quit on your stool like the little b***h you are.

“I’m a real fighter and went five rounds, you’re a little pretender chorizo!

“Congratulations @Justin_Gaethje rematch for undisputed?”

It is no surprise Pimblett became the latest to mock Topuria, given how the pair have exchanged verbal barrages in the past.

The two UFC 155lbs rivals even got into a physical clash, when Pimblett threw hand sanitiser at the former champion in a heated hotel brawl.

Both fighters were on track to meet in the main event for the title, but Gaethje hijacked his spot, and has now completely upset the apple cart.

Could a Pimblett vs Gaethje rematch happen?

It is unclear what the future plans are for both Topuria and Gaethje are for the brutal clash.

The potential for a title shot for Pimblett will likely be assessed if he beats Benoit Saint Denis in a tough return clash at UFC 329 in July.

Providing he wins, it could be on the cards, but Gaethje may elect to retire.

‘The Highlight’, in his immediate reaction, has already suggested that a sequel with Topuria is unlikely.

And now after completing the ultimate goal at 155lbs after being in so many epic wars, it is unclear what his motivation would be to return.

Gaethje has an epic resume in his career and after reaching the top, it would be a fitting last hoorah if he chooses to forego Pimblett’s interest.

Instead a future clash for the vacant title between famous foes Topuria and Pimblett may be more suitable.
