Packers’ Defense Is Posting Historic Numbers This Season

For years, the Green Bay Packers‘ defense held the team back, especially in big games. We saw Aaron Rodgers put up big numbers more often than not, just to watch his defense fail to get the opposing offense out of the end zone.
That seemed to be a major concern as well in the first couple of years of the Jordan Love era. That’s why they brought Jeff Hafley to solve those issues once and for all, and so far, so good.
The Packers’ defense has been even better in Hafley’s second year in charge of that unit. As pointed out by Zach Jacobson on X, they’ve posted their best defensive numbers since their Super Bowl-winning season fifteen years ago:
“The Packers’ defense has allowed fewer than 300 yards in a game eight times this season, tied for No. 1 in the league. That’s their most in a season since they did it in nine games in … 2010,” Jacobson posted on X.

Ironically, the Packers no longer have the explosive, top-tier offense they had in most of the seasons they couldn’t get many stops. Even so, they have more than enough to get by. They just need to find more consistency and, more importantly, be a little more aggressive.
The Packers are shutting down their opposition on the ground and in the air, and they have done a fantastic job of bending instead of breaking once the rival team is in the final stretch of the field. It’s been pretty tough to put up points against this team.
Now, it’s all about finding the same type of success on the other side of the field. Matt LaFleur has a sharp offensive mind, and he should be able to figure out what to do to help this team fulfill its true potential.
