Orioles receive important Chris Bassitt injury update on Friday

After a slow start to the season, the Baltimore Orioles have picked it up in recent weeks and they have started a slow climb in the American League East. Bassitt gave up 6 hits and 3 earned runs in that performance before leaving the mound with lower back tightness. Bassitt is in his first season with the Orioles.

Bassitt had his back examined in Baltimore and there are no further problems, according to Albernaz. He will rejoin his teammates in Toronto and he is expected to make his scheduled start Monday when the Orioles host the Seattle Mariners.

Bassitt has had an up-and-down performance through the first two-plus months of the season. He has a 4-4 record with a 5.27 earned run average. He has started in 10 of his 12 appearances and has 56.1 innings pitched. He has 37 strikeouts and 22 walks.

The 37-year-old Bassitt is in his 12th big-league season. He had his best year in 2023 with the Toronto Blue Jays when he went 16-8 with a 3.60 ERA. He struck out 186 batters in 200.0 innings.

The Oriole have a 30-33 record and have climbed into a tie for third place in the American League East with the Blue Jays. They have won 7 of their last 10 games and they have scored 4 runs or more in 8 of their last 10 games.
