Thursday night’s 4-0 defeat was the first time Nottingham Forest have hit a blank since mid March, a run stretching 10 games.

Forest have been on a tear as they’ve got up off their haunches to lift themselves six points clear of the relegation zone.

But after losing in midweek, they’ll be desperate to put at least a point on the board as they watch West Ham and Spurs scrap it out below them.

Newcastle had three 2-1 reverses on the spin before, losing 1-0 to Arsenal in late April.

Both teams scoring featured again in their 3-1 win over Brighton, which renewed a recurring theme for the Magpies in 2026.

Wood on a mission

Chris Wood plundered 20 league goals last season as Forest finished seventh.

He’s been a big miss to the team in recent months having suffered a knee injury in the match against FC Porto.

Wood scored the only goal in the semi-final first leg against Villa, which looked crucial at the time.

The New Zealand striker is back and could well be the man Forest look to, to fire them further clear of the drop zone.
