NFL rumors: Dianna Russini could break silence on Mike Vrabel controversy

The controversy involving New England Patriots coach Mike Vrabel and NFL reporter Dianna Russini has hogged the headlines over the past few weeks, with fans becoming increasingly curious about their supposed relationship.

It is hard to imagine how difficult it must be for Vrabel and Russini to navigate the matter. Both of them have largely stayed mum, although Russini issued a strongly worded statement after resigning from The Athletic following the scandal.

The 43-year-old Russini has denied any purported wrongdoing with the 50-year-old Vrabel.

In a report from Awful Announcing’s Sam Neumann, radio host Jon “Stugotz” Weiner hinted that Russini will eventually break her silence.

“This is her story to share when she feels like sharing it. It is not me, and it is not my obligation to talk to Dianna Russini privately on the phone and then share it with a radio audience that she doesn’t want me to share it with, because it’s not my story to tell. It’s her story to tell on her timeline,” said Weiner.

Weiner, who has developed a friendship with Russini, has expressed his support for her. He even said he is willing to hire Russini, who also previously worked at ESPN, if she decides to return to the media.

The controversy began when pictures of Russini and Vrabel getting cozy in a resort in Arizona were released. It quickly blew up as fans speculated about the alleged affair.

The NFL has wisely stayed out of it, while the Patriots did not impose any disciplinary action on Vrabel—or at least something that was disclosed. He did step away from team activities before returning recently.
