NFL rumors: Cardinals’ Josh Sweat receiving legitimate trade interest during offseason

Hope for a good upcoming season for the Arizona Cardinals has Josh Sweat doing his thing. And he’s motivated after last year’s Pro Bowl snub. However, Sweat might not be in Arizona in 2026. The Cardinals have been receiving legitimate trade interest for him during the offseason, according to a post on X by Jordan Schultz.

“Sources: The #Cardinals have received trade calls on Pro Bowl DE Josh Sweat.

Sweat had 12 sacks last season in his first year with Arizona and had a close relationship with Jonathan Gannon, whom the Cardinals moved on from.”

An eight-year veteran, Sweat has made only one Pro Bowl appearance. That came back in 2021 with the Eagles. However, he has posted two double-digit sack seasons. They came in 2022 with 11 and last year with a career-high 12.

Coming off that kind of season, it’s easy to see why other teams would be interested in the 29-year-old.

Cardinals DE Josh Sweat could be on the move

The Cardinals signed Sweat to a four-year, $76.4 million deal last year. That reunited him with Gannon. However, Gannon was fired as the Cardinals’ head coach. Mike LaFleur is the new sheriff in town.

It wouldn’t be surprising to see Sweat get plenty of interest from the Bears, according to Bleacher Report.

“Could Chicago make another run at Crosby before the regular season?” Kristopher Knox wrote. “Sure, but if Josh Sweat becomes available, he might be a more-enticing budget alternative.”

Other teams who might inquire about his services are the Bengals, Cowboys, Lions, Packers, and Patriots. It also would make sense that the Eagles might want to reunite with Sweat.

Of course, everything comes down to asking price. Nearly all NFL teams have set themselves up to start the season with what they currently have. So if the asking price is high, it would be surprising to see a team take a swing at Sweat.

And don’t expect the Cardinals to give him away. This could be a situation that re-emerges around the trade deadline. That’s especially true if Sewat is taking down quarterbacks as he did in 2025.
