NFL rumors: 3 ESPN insiders float Chiefs as option to trade up to No. 3
The 2026 NFL Draft is just one day away. Now is the perfect time for NFL teams to intensify their smokescreens in an effort to confuse their opponents. Two teams are repeatedly coming up in trade rumors just before the draft.
Multiple NFL insiders have floated the Chiefs as one team that could trade all the way up to the third overall pick with the Cardinals.
“The question is what teams are out there that can move up that far to number three? It’s not a long list,” ESPN’s Adam Schefter said on Wednesday via Get Up. “The Chiefs have had some thought about it, but the Chiefs are thinking about moving back as much as they’re thinking about moving up.”
Schefter also named the Saints as a team that could trade up to the third overall pick.
There’s also ESPN’s Peter Schrager, who also named the Chiefs and Saints as teams possibility interested in trading up in his final mock draft. Ultimately, he mocked Jeremiyah Love going to the Cardinals with the third overall pick.
“This could be a trade-down spot, and I believe Arizona is listening. Teams like the Chiefs and Saints could have interest in getting into position to take Reese,” Schrager wrote.
Finally, there’s ESPN’s Dan Graziano. He shared intel just before the draft, explaining that Arizona could be a pivot point at No. 3.
“It’s widely known around the league the Cardinals would prefer to trade down from that spot,” Graziano wrote. “If the Jets take Reese and there’s a team out there such as, say, the Chiefs at No. 9 that wants to make a big move up for Bailey, a deal could come together that could net Arizona extra picks.”
It will be fascinating to see how much trade activity there actually is on Thursday evening.
