Thomas Frank has been sacked as Tottenham manager after his side’s 2-1 home defeat against Newcastle on Tuesday night leaves the club down in 16th in the Premier League table and just five points above the relegation zone.

Spurs’ defeat against an out of form Newcastle side means the north London club are now without a win in any of their last nine matches in domestic competitions since the turn of the year.

Back to back defeats against Manchester United and Newcastle appear to have been the final nail in the coffin for the Dane as Spurs manager, just 11 days out from their next match, the small matter of a home north London derby.

talkSPORT BET have priced Roberto de Zerbi as the odds on favourite to be named as Frank’s successor, the Italian having only left his role as Marseille manager on Tuesday night.

The 46-year-old enjoyed previous success in England as manager of Brighton, taking the Seagulls to their first ever top six top flight finish in his first season in charge and taking them to the knockout stages of the Europa League in his second.

De Zerbi then headed to the south of France to take over a Marseille side who’d just finished eighth in Ligue 1, delivering them a second placed finish last season, before departing the club on Tuesday night with club fifth in the French standings.

Mauricio Pochettino is also being linked with a return to north London after having managed almost 300 games for the club across a five year period between 2014 and 2019.

The Argentinian helped the club cement their place in the ‘Big Six’ clubs in England, leading them to second place league finish, their highest since 1963, and took the club to their first ever Champions League final, as well as two Carabao Cup finals.

Ultimately the 53-year-old failed to win the club any silverware, which could lead the former PSG and Chelsea manager to feel his Tottenham journey isn’t quite finished.

Pochettino is currently managing the USA national team ahead of their home World Cup this summer so in all likelihood wouldn’t be available to Spurs till after it, when his contract in the States runs out.

Former Tottenham striker Robbie Keane is the joint third-favourite to be named as Frank’s successor, the Irishman having spent eight and a half years as a player for the north London side, scoring 122 goals in 306 appearances for the club.

The 45-year-old is currently enjoying his time managing Hungarian side Ferencvaros, winning the league title for the Budapest side last season after taking over 12 months ago, and has taken the side into the knockout stages of the Europa League.

Another name being linked with Tottenham Hotspur Stadium hotseat is Xavi, the former Barcelona manager who, like Keane, is also priced at 8/1 to named as Frank’s successor.

The World Cup winning former Spain midfielder has been out of a job since departing Barcelona in the summer of 2024 after the best part of three years in charge, a tenure which included winning La Liga and the Supercopa in 2023, lifting the club’s first league title in four years.

The likes of Ruben Amorim, Xabi Alonso and Enzo Maresca, all of which have recently been relieved of their respective duties at Manchester United, Real Madrid and Chelsea, are also being linked with the Spurs job, as is Oliver Glasner, who has announced he’ll be leaving Crystal Palace at the end of the season.
