Next Burnley manager odds: Steven Gerrard favourite to takeover at Turf Moor if Parker departs
Steven Gerrard is now favourite to become the next Burnley manager for the start of the 2026/27 campaign.
The Liverpool legend and former Rangers and Aston Villa boss has been chalked up as the 2/1 favourite if current incumbent Scott Parker leaves the club at the end of the season.
Burnley’s relegation from the Premier League was confirmed after the 1-0 home defeat to Manchester City last week.
Parker’s future hangs in the balance with crunch talks set to take place between the 45-year-old and Burnley’s owner and chairman Alan Pace to thrash out whether he will remain in charge for their Championship campaign next season.
No decision has been made as yet, but with Parker still with one year to go on his current Burnley contract they could find a route out that’s suitable for both parties.

Former Fulham and Bournemouth boss Scott Parker took over at Turf Moor from Vincent Kompany in July 2024. Steering the squad to an immediate return to the Premier League on 100 points. But it hasn’t quite worked out for the club this season.
Parker was tight-lipped on his future last week.
“This season has been a huge challenge for us,” he said.
“Discussions about what we need to do as a football club will take place in due course.”
And now Steven Gerrard who last managed in the Saudi Pro League with Al Ettifaq in January 2025, could be lined-up for his next management role.

Wales boss Craig Bellamy is also in the frame, having been Kompany’s assistant in 2023 and 2024.
Despite failing to qualify for the World Cup in north America this summer, it’s still thought Bellamy may want to continue his journey and look to the European Championships in 2028.
Former Chelsea gaffer Liam Rosenior has done a solid job in the Championship with Derby and Hull in recent years. He may well feel a route back into the game with a club with lofty ambitions in the second tier would suit his management style.
