After a couple of years, the Tennessee Volunteers football team will replace Morgan Wallen’s “The Way I Talk” as its fourth-quarter hype song with one from the late Dolly Parton.

Danny White announced (via Volquest) that one of Parton’s songs will serve as the Volunteers’ fourth-quarter song during their game against Furman on Saturday, Sep. 5. White didn’t disclose whether this was a permanent change or which song they will use.

Parton’s death was announced on Tuesday, Aug. 25, 2026, in a video featuring her nephew, Bryan Seaver. It was later reported that she had a “brief battle with cancer” before her passing.

The Volunteers open their season on Sep. 5 against Furman. They will then play Georgia Tech and Kennesaw State before hosting Texas on Sep. 26. A few weeks later, they will host Alabama. Some of their late-season matchups include dates with Texas A&M and LSU.

In addition to using one of her songs in the fourth quarter on Saturday, Tennessee’s football helmets will feature a sticker of a butterfly with “Dolly” across it all season.

Like Wallen, who was born and raised in Tennessee and headlined two huge shows at Neyland Stadium in 2024, Parton is from the Volunteer State. She was born in Pittman Center and passed away in Nashville.

She died at 80 years old but left a gaudy legacy behind. Parton began performing at a young age, and she released countless albums throughout her career.

Parton was also an actress who appeared in movies like 9 to 5 — which spawned her famous hit of the same name — and Straight Talk.

Her last solo studio album, Rockstar, was released on Nov. 17, 2023. It largely consists of covers of rock songs and collaborations with the likes of Sting, John Fogerty, Kid Rock, Stevie Nicks, Joan Jett, Miley Cyrus, Elton Jon, Lizzo, Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, and Lynyrd Skynyrd.
