MLB world is freaking out over Yankees infield Jazz Chisholm Jr.’s mid-game lollipop

It has been a rollercoaster of a year for Jazz Chisholm Jr. of the New York Yankees. He was aiming for a 50-50 season coming into the year, but then did not hit a home run in his first 21 games of the year. Last week, Chisholm took a shot to the nether regions on a foul ball, but has decided not to wear protection.

Now, Chisholm is drawing more attention to himself, and now for his skill on the field, enjoying a lollipop during the fifth inning, while playing in the field.

The antics of the infielder have not been well-received by fans and his manager.

“That pisses me off,” Aaron Boone said of the lollipop in the mouth of his player. Meanwhile, fans did not like the event either.

It was not the only antics of the second baseman during the game. He also built a sandcastle near second base as his teammates looked on.

It may not be the best look for a player hitting just .226 on the season, with 11 home runs and 31 RBIs. Further, he went one for four in the loss to the Detroit Tigers, while striking out twice. He is hitting just .183 in the month of June with five home runs and 11 RBIs. Which, apparently, is enough to warrant enjoying a lollipop while playing in the field for the team.

Boone has said that the incident won’t happen again, but for a player that seems to be as tone-deaf as Chisholm, there is no sure thing.

The team has now lost four of its last five games. The Yankees are 46-31 on the season, which does place them as the leader in the AL East. They will continue their series on the road with the Detroit Tigers on Tuesday evening.
