PSG vs Manchester United predictions
Michael Carrick’s interim spell as Manchester United manager could hardly have gone any better.
Carrick inherited a team that was languishing in mid-table of the Premier League in January. He was tasked with steadying the ship following Ruben Amorim’s disappointing tenure, but the former midfielder did much more than that.
Indeed, United ended up qualifying comfortably for the Champions League by finishing third for the first time since 2023.
Had the campaign started when Carrick was handed the reins, United would have been champions. The question now is: can they sustain that form over an entire campaign and launch a proper title tilt?
The jury remains out. One advantage United had last season was their absence from Europe. They also went out early in both cup competitions, so ended up playing only 40 matches in all competitions.
Their squad will be placed under much greater strain this time around, so Carrick will have to adeptly manage the group in order to compete on multiple fronts.
United have signed Youri Tielemans and Andrey Santos as part of a midfield revamp, but as of yet there have not been any major acquisitions in other parts of the pitch.
While the Premier League is the priority, United will also aim to be competitive in the Champions League, a tournament Paris Saint-Germain have won for two seasons in a row.
Luis Enrique’s side clearly prioritised Europe last term, often picking weaker sides for Ligue 1 matches. Yet that did not prevent them winning the title.
PSG treated the first few weeks of the 2025/26 league season as an extended pre-season and they could be about to do the same this time around.
PSG vs Manchester United betting tips
Who will triumph when Manchester United face PSG this weekend?
PSG clear underdogs
At first glance, it might appear surprising that Manchester United are such strong favourites for this match.
But bear in mind that PSG just lost 3-0 to Real Mallorca after picking what was, at best, a second-string starting XI.
The likes of Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and Vitinha could be involved against Manchester United, but for the most part we will see a young and experimental PSG side.
United’s XI will be much more recognisable. The only player who started against Atletico Madrid last time out and has no chance of being in the XI at the beginning of the Premier League season is goalkeeper Tom Heaton.

Not necessarily a goalfest
For all that this is a meeting between the biggest club in England and the biggest club in France, neither team will be going all-out on Saturday.
This fixture is primarily about getting up to speed and building fitness ahead of the 2026/27 campaign. The result is not all-important.
Both managers will make plenty of changes during the game, which will disrupt the flow and rhythm of Manchester United and PSG.
As such, we should not expect to see a huge number of goals in Gothenburg.

Who will find net?
Manchester United’s attacking output was much improved last season following the signings of Bryan Mbeumo, Matheus Cunha and Benjamin Sesko the previous summer.
All three players got into double figures for goals in the league, with Mbeumo the most impressive of the trio.
The Cameroon international was not involved at the World Cup, so he has had a substantial period of rest over the summer.
That bodes well for both the start of the season and his chances of finding the back of the net against PSG.
Go for Bryan Mbeumo to score any time at 11/10 with bet365
