Mets plethora of roster moves include A.J. Minter returning from IL

The New York Mets are set to host the Cincinnati Reds for Game 2 of a 3-game series at Citi Field. The Reds took the series opener by the score of 7-2, seeing the Mets lose four straight games. They were recently swept by the Miami Marlins over the weekend. After this series against Cincinnati, the Mets will host the Marlins for a quick rematch against the division rivals.

Ahead of this game against the Reds, the Mets have made a plethora of roster moves. The most notable move was reinstating reliever A.J. Minter from the injured list.

• “LHP A.J. Minter has been returned from rehab assignment and reinstated from the 60-Day Injured List.
• INF/OF Jared Young has been returned from rehab assignment and reinstated from the 10-Day Injured List.
• OF Nick Morabito and RHP Jonathan Pintaro were optioned to Triple-A following yesterday’s game.
• OF Tyrone Taylor has been placed on the 10-Day Injured List with a right hip flexor strain.
• INF Eric Wagaman has been selected to the Major League roster.
• A corresponding 40-man roster move will be announced prior to the game.”

There is a lot to unpack here, but the Mets are getting a boost with Minter available out of the bullpen. Minter owns a career 3.23 ERA and 1.19 WHIP, mostly with the Atlanta Braves, where he spent eight seasons. 2025 was his first year with the Mets, but it was mostly injury-ridden. If he is on his game, the Mets own one of the best southpaws in the game with championship experience.

Tyrone Taylor left Monday’s game with a flexor strain and will now miss some time.

Eric Wagaman will head to the Mets clubhouse, but they must take someone off the 40-man roster before doing so. Wagaman has played for the Los Angeles Angels and Miami Marlins in his career, owning a .250 average with nine home runs in his career. He should be able to contribute right away.
