Mavericks, Jason Kidd part ways after 1 season with Cooper Flagg

The Dallas Mavericks are making a big change after missing the playoffs in Cooper Flagg’s rookie season in 2025-26. Dallas and head coach Jason Kidd have mutually agreed to part ways, the team announced on social media Tuesday.

“The Dallas Mavericks announced today that the team has mutually agreed to part ways with head coach Jason Kidd,” the team wrote. “The organization will immediately begin a comprehensive search for its next head coach.”

Kidd was the head coach in Dallas for five seasons, amassing a 205-205 record in that time. He was a very successful coach in the postseason, reaching the Western Conference Finals in 2022 and the NBA Finals in 2024.
