Marshall Faulk Has Landed A New Job

Marshall Faulk is one of the greatest running backs in the history of the NFL and is a proud member of the Hall of Fame due to his MVP award, Super Bowl ring, and seven Pro Bowl nods. He ran for 12,279 yards and 100 touchdowns in his career and recently entered the coaching sphere when he joined Deion Sanders at Colorado this season as the Buffaloes’ running backs coach.
After averaging a paltry 2.5 yards per carry as a team last year, Faulk was brought in to inject new life into Colorado’s lifeless rushing attack. While the team has struggled overall, the running game has been marginally better, and is up to a still poor, but more acceptable 3.5 yards per carry with over 500 more rushing yards than last year’s team had.
According to The Athletic, Faulk’s stay in Boulder appears to be short-lived. They reported on Thursday that Faulk is expected to leave Colorado to accept the head coaching position at Southern University.
“Marshall Faulk is expected to become the next head coach at Southern University, an FCS program in Louisiana, a source tells [Bruce Feldman]. Faulk spent his first season as a college coach under Deion Sanders, acting as the running backs coach at Colorado,” per The Athletic.

It will be a homecoming for the Louisiana native as Faulk now gets to take over the HBCU program that fired head coach Terrence Graves last month after a 1-6 start. The two-time All-American from San Diego State is a College Football Hall of Famer, and it’s great to see him taking on the challenge of leading a smaller program to new heights.
Congratulations to Faulk, and he’ll surely be missed in Boulder. We’ll keep an eye out to see if and when it becomes official, but Southern got themselves a good one.
