Mark Cuban congratulates Pablo Torre on LA ruling after fiercely defending Steve Ballmer

Former Dallas Mavericks majority owner Mark Cuban is sending love to Pablo Torre following the NBA’s rulings in the Kawhi Leonard-Aspiration investigation. The NBA ruled that the Clippers did engage in salary cap circumvention regarding Leonard and ultimately imposed historic punishments on the organization.

According to a report by Shams Charania, the Clippers were stripped of five first-round picks, and Steve Ballmer, Lawrence Frake, and Gillian Tucker have been suspended. The league issued Ballmer a $30 million suspension. Leonard is also mandated to pay $700,000 in restitution for “improper benefits” from the Clippers.  Dennis Robertson, Leonard’s uncle and former business representative, has also been banned by the NBA from any business dealings in the league.

Cuban took to his social media account, quoting Charania’s X report, and said, “Congrats Pablo.”

Torre launched his investigation into Kawhi Leonard and potential salary cap circumvention with the organization last fall. Cuban emerged as one of Torre’s biggest skeptics of his initial reporting. Cuban believed that Ballmer was not circumventing the salary cap and believed that Ballmer was too smart to engage in the practice.

“I’m on Team Ballmer,” Cuban wrote on X account in September 2025. “As much as I wish they circumvented the salary cap, First Steve isn’t that dumb. If he did try to feed KL money, knowing what was at stake for him personally, and his team, do you think he would let the company go bankrupt ? Knowing all creditors would be visible to the world ? They got scammed by Aspiration, along with many others. Crimes for which they pleaded guilty last week.”

Cuban also debated Torre about the incident in defense of Balumer on the October 14th edition of Pablo Torre Finds Out.
