Loudest stadium and most annoying fanbase in college football revealed ahead of 2026 season

Saturdays in the fall are for college football, and few sports can match the atmospheres created in stadiums up and down the country.

Some of the biggest stages in the United States belong to student athletes — from Michigan’s ‘Big House’ to the 102,780-capacity home field of the Ohio State Buckeyes.

College football is known for drawing some of the most passionate, and raucous, crowds in the world.

Northwestern might soon have the most expensive facility in the country, but over the years, many fans have posed a simple question: Which team boasts the loudest stadium?

Well, now we know.

College football’s loudest stadiums revealed in new rankings

Ahead of the 2026 season, On3 has ranked the top 10 atmospheres by decibels.

The honor of loudest stadium goes to an iconic SEC program.

Neyland Stadium, home of the Tennessee Volunteers, takes the crown.

According to On3, the 101,915-capacity home field can reach a level of 137 dB on any given Saturday.

It’s perhaps unsurprising that Neyland tops the list, as it remains one of the largest stadiums in college football.

What is surprising, though, is that the 70,000 Husky Stadium takes second place on the list, with a decibel level of 133.6.

Despite having around 30,000 less seats to fill, fans of the Washington Huskies still create some serious noise.

Third on the list is Williams-Brice Stadium, home of the South Carolina Gamecocks.

There, 77,550 fans pile in to match the noise of Husky Stadium, with a level of 133.6 dB.

In fourth place is Memorial Stadium, a facility the Clemson Tigers call home.

Nicknamed ‘Death Valley’ for a reason, more than 80,000 fans create an intimidating atmosphere that can reach levels of 132.8 dB.

‘Deaf Valley’ is perhaps a more appropriate nickname for Clemson’s fortress.

The top five loudest atmospheres are rounded off by Tiger Stadium, located in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

Like Memorial Stadium, it’s also nicknamed ‘Death Valley’ and more than 102,000 fans can pack in to watch the LSU Tigers play ball. Decibel levels have reached 130 dB there.

Oregon’s 60,000-capacity Autzen Stadium, Virginia Tech’s Lane Stadium, Texas A&M’s Kyle Field, Penn State’s Beaver Stadium and the soon-to-be renovated Ben Hill Griffin Stadium, home of the Florida Gators, take spots five through 10 on the rankings.

While Tennessee’s Neyland takes the crown for loudest stadium, another of fanbase that features on the list has been handed a rather unwanted title heading into 2026.

Which team has the ‘most annoying’ fans in college football?

According to ESPN analyst Paul Finebaum, ACC powerhouse Clemson has the ‘most annoying’ fans in the sport.

He’s tired of the hype around the Tigers year in, year out — and isn’t a massive fan of veteran head coach Dabo Swinney, either.

“Overall? Clemson fans are just absurd,” Finebaum said during 2026 SEC Media Days, when asked which fanbase drives him nuts.

“Because they think they’re relevant. I get asked a couple times a year, what do you think about Dabo Swinney? And my answer’s the same, and they all start tweeting, ‘Oh man, Dabo Swinney living rent free in Paul Finebaum’s brain.'”

“Now, Dabo Swinney is not living rent free in any — I mean, (South Carolina HC) Shane Beamer is beating this guy.”

Finebaum went on to insist that Clemson is not a ‘legitimate’ program anymore in his brutal verdict.

He continued: “I am getting just so exasperated listening to Dabo tell us how great he used to be.

“They’re not great anymore. Dabo is just stuck on stupid right now trying to convince that his program is still legitimate.”

Finebaum is well known for taking shots at Swinney, and after his comments about Clemson fans, he probably won’t be welcome at ‘Death Valley’ in 2026.

But if he does step into the building for a game one day, expect that 132.8 dB level at Memorial Stadium to kick up a few notches.
