Ex-Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury rival taken to hospital as he falls to brutal last-gasp KO

Otto Wallin had an evening to forget against Vladyslav Sirenko.

The giant Swede, who famously cut Tyson Fury in 2019 and was KO’d by Anthony Joshua in 2023, returned to the ring.

He made his first appearance under Dana White‘s Zuffa Boxing in New York on the undercard of Edgar Berlanga’s return.

Wallin took on Vladyslav Sirenko, a heavy-handed Ukrainian who was looking to bounce back after a decision defeat to Solomon Dacres last year.

And it ended in disaster for the experienced ‘Ottomatic’ who found himself on the deck in a devastating late blow.

Wallin KO’d in final ten seconds

Wallin and Sirenko has traded early on in the fight, but the Swede was landing the more accurate and crisp work.

He was banking rounds and outclassing Sirenko at times, who was trying with relentless body attacks, to work his way into the contest.

But Sirenko was the one pushing the pace and trying to drag further gruelling exchanges out of Wallin as time went on, with fatigue setting in going into the final round.

The result wasn’t clear, with Wallin perhaps believing he’d done enough to clinch it on the scorecards in the final stanza.

But what came was dramatic with Sirenko desperately searching for that all-important punch late on.

And it was an expertly timed right hook, followed up by a bruising left hand which detonated on Wallin’s temple.

He was sent crushing to the canvas like a dead weight, with just five seconds to go in the contest.

The 35-year-old was unable to climb back to his feet, and didn’t move as he was practically out cold from the concussive blow.

Referee Shada Murdaugh waved off the contest and Wallin was quickly attended too by medics.

Sirenko celebrated wildly, knowing that was perhaps the biggest stoppage of his career to date.

For Wallin, it was one of the most brutal KO defeats of his career, and a real crushing blow to his chances of ever returning to his previous heights.

He was subsequently taken to hospital after being stretchered from the ring.

His trainer Travia Pierce later told media that the heavyweight was undergoing tests in a medical facility.

It is currently unclear whether he has stayed in overnight or returned home, but a positive update was encouraging after such a brutal stoppage.
