$400 million stadium renovation unveiled as NFL franchise prepares for 150 mile relocation

Camping World Stadium will house the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2027 after a major face-lift.

Work is being done on EverBank Stadium, requiring the NFL franchise to head south for a season as the finishing touches are put on the $1.4 billion project.

Orlando has been picked as the venue, setting up a historically short road game for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

DLR Group has now shared its vision for Camping World, with the arena set for a $400m renovation that “reimagines the entire experience” of the 90-year-old venue.

Capacity is set to be increased to over 65,000, with upgrades to the fan experience throughout.

A new North Endzone Tower will enclose the bowl to connect up the suite and terrace levels.

Outside, a new façade with programmable lighting will provide a stunning backdrop to the skyline.

Work began in February in order to have it ready for the Jags.

Orange County approved a $626m funding package in 2024, with the rest of the funds going to improving the Kia Center — home of the Orlando Magic.

“Our design doesn’t just modernise infrastructure; it reimagines the entire experience from the moment you arrive at the stadium to the final moment you leave,” DLR Group principal and sports design leader, Ryan Freeland said via The Stadium Business.

“Every decision, from the expanded premium offerings to the new North Endzone Tower, was made to amplify the energy of this place, extend its life, and make it more competitive on a national and international stage.”

Jaguars building ‘stadium of the future’

The Jags’ stadium overhaul is expected to be completed by August 2028.

Framework is rising around the stadium, which will host games at a reduced capacity in 2026, with a concerted effort to use American steel and local workforce.

“There was a desire on the part of both the Jaguars and the city to stress American-made materials in the building,” Sid K. Perkins, senior vice president of field operations for a AECOM Hunt, said.

“The steel that you see up, structural steel, that’s all American-made. We’ll be looking hard at the finishes to try and utilize all American-made tiles and items inside to create our finish.

“The Jaguars and the city have provided us with the opportunity to put a whole lot of local tradesmen in there. You look across our job site, I would wage that 70 percent of the workers are better on this job site are from the surrounding three or four counties

“I’m fortunate I ran [the] remodel on this stadium 12 years ago, and many of the workers I have here are return workers who worked for me 12 years ago on the remodel.”

An expanded concourse will feature new communal spaces, including lookout decks that offer skyline and river views.

“I think the fans will be very pleasantly surprised when they show up and see their circulation area. Our main concourses are much larger than what they’ve been over the past 30 years,” Perkins added.

“Many of those have prominent views that look out over the surrounding St. John’s River and downtown development areas and other city facilities.

“I think it will be an amazing view. You also have a view of [the] two bridges off of the east side on the concourse open deck area – it should be very prominent.”

The Jaguars are scheduled to play six home games in Jacksonville in the 2026 season, with two more in London.
