Former India batting coach Sanjay Bangar opined that the Delhi Capitals' (DC) captain Axar Patel should bowl in the power play against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on Monday, May 27.

According to Bangar, the Delhi Capitals' seam-bowling attack doesn't have too much variety and that is why the introduction of spin in the power play could help them change things around. The former India all-rounder also suggested that Dushmantha Chameera should play instead of Lungi Ngidi, if the latter fails to recover in time from the head injury he sustained in the last game against the Punjab Kings. He also mentioned that Vipraj Nigam should get a chance in the side and be used with the ball through the middle overs.

"Dushmantha Chameera comes in for Lungi Ngidi. Because Mitchell Starc is not going to be available till the 1st of May, it makes a lot of sense to get Vipraj Nigam back into your playing 11. At the moment, there is a lot of sameness about their pace bowling, especially in the powerplay. So Axar [Patel] can end up bowling a couple of overs of spin in the powerplay and get the rest spinners to bowl in the middle overs," Bangar said on ESPNcricinfo Timeout.

Pathum Nissanka had an impressive start to the season but runs have dried up for him in the last few games. Bangar said that the Arun Jaitley Stadium doesn't have much to offer for a seamer like Kyle Jamieson, who is also a part of the Delhi Capitals' setup, and that is why Nissanka should get one last chance to cement his place in the side.

"Two overseas pacers are not needed at this venue as they're playing at home. The pitch doesn't really offer anything for the skill set that Kyle Jamieson possesses, so I would imagine that they would give another game to Nissanka, which could be a make-or-break game for him," Bangar observed.
