Los Angeles Golf Club wins second season of TGL in Tiger Woods’ season debut
The TGL world runs through Los Angeles.
After the Atlanta-based franchise won the league’s inaugural campaign a year ago, it was Los Angeles who emerged on top the second time around. They defeated Jupiter Links on Monday night to take the first match and won the second just as singles started to take the season title.
Notably, Tuesday night marked the season debut of Tiger Woods and particularly marked the first golf that the viewing public has seen Tiger play in some time. Given how the match, and therefore the overall championship battle, was decided so early into the singles there was not an opportunity for Tiger to play in a singles match himself. The only golf he played on Tuesday night was in the triples action.
As far as Los Angeles is concerned, they really earned their title. Tommy Fleetwood, Justin Rose, and Sahith Theegala teed it up while Collin Morikawa (who withdrew from the Players) recovers from injury, and as noted they made quick work of things. That Ryder Cup magic from Fleetwood and Rose sure is strong. LA ultimately secured the match with a 9-2 score on the 10th hole, the first of the singles portion of the match.
Notably, it was reported by Marty Smith during the match that Morikawa is set to play in next week’s Valero Texas Open which is the final event before the Masters.
Congratulations to Los Angeles on taking home the TGL title.
