Liverpool transfer update: Premier League winger on shortlist if Bradley Barcola pursuit fails to advance
Liverpool could swoop for Brighton winger Yankuba Minteh if their pursuit of Bradley Barcola does not advance.
The Reds had initially targeted RB Leipzig winger Yan Diomande, but he has instead expressed his preference to join Paris Saint-Germain.

Should Diomande join the European champions, it could nudge Barcola further towards the exit door.
PSG have already shifted one winger in Lee Kang-in, with the South Korea star set to join Atletico Madrid, while teenage flyer Ibrahim Mbaye may also seek pastures new.
But the mooted departure of Barcola would be the biggest of the lot.
And Liverpool, who are seeking to replace Mohamed Salah, would certainly be towards the front of the queue should PSG give any inclination he is up for grabs.
Why Liverpool may have to wait before advancing on Barcola
However, talkSPORT’s Ben Jacobs revealed Liverpool will have to wait for a number of dominoes to fall in the French capital before they can start advancing on a move for Barcola.
“Part of the delay from Liverpool is they now need to watch Yan Diomande and PSG play out, and very possibly Maghnes Akliouche as well,” Jacobs said in the latest edition of The Window.
“If PSG get one or both of those names, the door might still be open for Bradley Barcola to leave, even though PSG’s stance at the moment is not for sale.”
Adding to Liverpool’s tricky task of landing Barcola is Arsenal’s interest in the PSG winger.
Aston Villa star Morgan Rogers is the Gunners’ top target, but with the Villans believed to be holding out for as much as £130million, it could force the reigning Premier League champions to pivot and centre their attention on Barcola instead.
If Barcola is out of reach, who else could Liverpool go for?
As for Liverpool, Jacobs outlined they too have a list of alternative targets should PSG opt to hang onto Barcola, with Minteh among them.

“Brighton’s Yankuba Minteh has been discussed, I’m not aware of anything developing as it stands,” Jacobs continued.
“Said El Mala and Matias Fernandez-Pardo are two other names that Liverpool really like.
“But I still expect Liverpool to be busy and don’t be surprised if they look at the central midfield market as well.”
Brentford came close to landing El Mala, but the deal ultimately fell through, partly due to the Bees’ reluctance to sign the Koln winger’s brother, which the family had requested as part of the deal.
German outlet BILD reported the total package for El Mala would have cost Brentford approximately £43m.
Which players have Liverpool signed this summer?
Outside of their pursuit of Barcola, Liverpool have already made key moves in the window this summer.

Jeremy Jacquet has officially arrived following Liverpool agreeing a deal worth up to £60m with Rennes in January.
The Reds then hijacked Newcastle’s pursuit of Spain international Victor Munoz by triggering his £34m release clause.
