Lions offered huge package to trade up with Ravens in 2026 NFL Draft
The Detroit Lions will be ready to make some noise during the 2026 NFL season. Detroit added young talent in the 2026 NFL Draft, upgrading in the trenches with their first two picks. But everything could have looked a lot different if one proposed trade actually happened.
New video released by the Ravens reveals that the Lions attempted to trade up to the 14th overall pick in the draft.
According to the video, Detroit offered a 2026 fourth-round pick (118th overall) and a 2027 third-round pick to swap first-round picks. That is a pretty fair offer to move up three spots in the first round, at least according to the Jimmy Johnson trade value chart. However, it is difficult to know how valuable 2027 draft picks will be next spring.
At the time that Detroit made their offer, Dallas had just traded up for Caleb Downs.
Alabama offensive lineman Kadyn Proctor was still on the board, suggesting that he could have been Detroit’s target. The Lions were widely connected with Proctor during the pre-draft process.
Ultimately, the Dolphins selected Proctor with the 12th overall pick. Then when the Ravens were finally on the clock, the Lions backed out of that trade proposal and did not move up the board.
It all worked out well for Detroit in the end. The Lions used their first-round pick on tackle Blake Miller, filling a big hole on the offensive line. Since they did not trade up, they had draft capital to move up in the second round for EDGE Derrick Moore.
Lions GM Brad Holmes has proven that he’ll do whatever it takes to acquire players he likes during the draft. Hopefully the 2026 draft class helps get the Lions back to the playoffs later this fall.
