Once again, Luka Doncic delivered a signature superstar performance in the Los Angeles Lakers’ 125-122 win over the Los Angeles Clippers. The Slovenian guard finished with 38 points, 11 assists, six rebounds, three steals, and eight made three-pointers, and ended up breaking a major record along the way.

The performance marked Doncic’s 10th game as a Laker with at least 35 points and 10 assists, surpassing Kobe Bryant for the third-most such performances in franchise history, per a post on X OC Register’s Benjamin Royer.

Returning from a four-game absence due to a mild hamstring strain, Doncic was at his best right from the start and produced 17 first-quarter points with four threes. With Doncic leading the Lakers, Kawhi Leonard did something similar for the Clippers, finishing with 31 points to keep his team in the hunt right till the end.

Despite the Lakers pushing the lead to 15 points in the second half, the Clippers mounted a 20-3 run to reclaim control. However, Doncic was once again at his sparkling best in the fourth quarter, scoring 12 points as Leonard exited with more than five minutes remaining due to an ankle injury.

The game also proved Doncic’s ability to lead alongside both Austin Reaves and LeBron James. While Reaves produced 29 points on the night, James had a double-double with 13 points and 11 assists.

The trio shared the court for only the 11th time in a total of 55 games, but the night truly belonged to Doncic, who surpassed Bryant despite his comparatively short spell at the Lakers thus far. However, the Slovenian himself will be delighted with the win in his first game since the All-Star break.

The Lakers are now up to 5th in the West with a 34-21 record and also stopped the Clippers from reach the .500 mark. Leonard and company are currently 9th in the Conference with a 27-29 record and will look to return to winning ways against the Orlando Magic.
