Important Yankees’ Trent Grisham injury update announced before Rays game
Before the start of their three-game series with the Tampa Bay Rays, the New York Yankees have activated Jose Caballero. Additionally, there is an injury update on Trent Grisham, according to New York Post writer Joel Sherman.
“Trent Grisham is on the field doing agility work 5 hours before first pitch to test his left knee and seems to be running in a straight line without issue,” Sherman wrote on X.
Grisham has played 49 games for the Yankees, mostly in center field. While he is not on the same level as Aaron Judge, he is still someone who benefits the Yanks in the outfield. Recently, the imaging on Grisham’s left knee came back negative, indicating no serious injury. He allegedly sustained the injury on May 20 against the Toronto Blue Jays.
Grisham has served primarily as the center fielder all season for the Yankees. With him out, Cody Bellinger has spent time in center field. Spencer Jones has also spent some time in center field. But the Yanks optioned him back to Triple-A, indicating that the injury to Grisham might not be as serious.
Young players have boosted the Yankees this season, propelling them to second in the division. Currently, New York is 30-21 and sitting in second place in the AL East. The Yankees trail the Rays by 4 1/2 games. This series with the Rays will give them a chance to cut into the division lead and possibly gain ground in the battle for first place. If Grisham can recover from his knee injury, he might be back as soon as this weekend.
