Lakers’ LeBron James feeling like a young kid again with ‘lit’ playoff mic drop
The Los Angeles Lakers recently learned that their first round opponent for the upcoming NBA playoffs will be the Houston Rockets, with the series set to begin on Saturday evening in LA. Unfortunately, the Lakers will be without both Austin Reaves and Luka Doncic at least at the beginning of this series, meaning the pressure will be on 41 year-old LeBron James to carry the workload offensively.
James himself seems up for the task based on recent comments he made on his “Mind The Game” podcast.
“This postseason is about to be, as the young kids would say, lit. S*** is going to be litty, it’s going to be crazy. I’m looking forward to it. Me personally, I don’t know how many more postseasons I’ve got left in my career… getting ready for the postseason, that moment, it doesn’t matter what you did in the regular season. That s*** is out the window now… I’m excited. I can’t wait,” said James, per Mind The Game on X, formerly Twitter.
James sure looked like a player ready to slot into a number one option role with his final few games of the regular season last week, helping Los Angeles earn the number four seed in the conference, but he will likely have to step up his game even more to help the shorthanded Lakers stay competitive against a Rockets team that has been playing its best basketball of the season in recent weeks.
Los Angeles will also be hoping for some good variance from beyond the arc in this matchup, as well as good news about Doncic and Reaves sooner rather than later.
Game 1 between the Lakers and Rockets is set for Saturday evening at 8:30 pm ET from the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles.
