Lakers’ Adou Thiero gets ejected after heated moment late in blowout loss to Rockets

The Los Angeles Lakers failed to take care of business in Game 4 on Sunday, bowing to the Houston Rockets, 115-96, at Toyota Center. The Lakers were gunning for a sweep of their first-round series, but the Rockets lived to see another day.

The Lakers struggled to recover after being outscored in the third quarter, 34-18. They tried to mount a rally in the final period, but the Rockets did not budge. Los Angeles coach JJ Redick waved the white flag with 7:25 left, fielding in his benchwarmers.

Among them was Adou Thiero, who made his debut in the playoffs. He, however, was ejected with 1:11 remaining after an altercation with Aaron Holiday. They were tossed after each getting whistled for a technical foul.

Thiero had three points and a turnover in six minutes.

Fans were dumbfounded by the ejection of Thiero and Holiday, especially since the outcome of the game had already been settled.

“This referee is a joke,” said @SellinRecordss.

“These referees are actually just smoking crack,” echoed @aleksei_txt.

“Unnecessary ejection, officials are scared,” added @NavyCaptRet63XX.

“For LITERALLY nothing,” posted @GumpDogg2324.

“These referees are absolutely horrible,” commented @dswervo305.

Thiero and Holiday were battling for the rebound in the paint when they exchanged shoves. It did not escalate, but they were still thrown out.

Holiday finished with nine points, one rebound, one steal, and one block in 19 minutes.

Deandre Ayton was also ejected in the third quarter after a hard foul on Alperen Sengun.

The Lakers will try to eliminate the Rockets in Game 5 at Crypto.com Arena on Wednesday.
