Kansas suffers tough injury blow to LB ahead of Missouri clash

Kansas football turned to Isaiah Marshall at quarterback post Jalon Daniels for the 2026 season. Now the Jayhawks must roll without a key defender before renewing their rivalry with Missouri on Saturday: Daveon Crouch.

ESPN college football insider Pete Thamel revealed where things stand for “Bam” ahead of the Tigers showdown.

“Kansas starting linebacker Daveon ‘Bam’ Crouch is doubtful for the Missouri game on Friday. He left the opener against LIU with an apparent shoulder injury. He’s a Boston College transfer where he had 109 career tackles and 9.5 TFLs (tackles for a loss),” Thamel posted on the social media website X, formerly Twitter.

He’s not the only notable injury, per Thamel.

“Kansas wide receiver Cam Pickett (leg) will be a game time decision after missing the LIU game. He tied for the team lead in receptions last year (45) and finished with 476 yards and three touchdowns. He’s expected to dress and warm up, and a decision will be made,” Thamel added.

Kansas rolled to a 51-6 trouncing of Long Island University to kick off the 2026 season. The Big 12 representative jumped to a 30-0 lead at halftime thanks to a 24-0 second quarter.

Friday’s contest also became the debut of offensive coordinator addition Andy Kotelnicki, who came over via Penn State. Marshall tossed two touchdowns and racked up 246 yards, but added 49 through the ground game. Wide receiver Nik McMillan led the air attack with six catches for 130 yards and scored once.

KU delivered three sacks on the evening including Crouch. Now it appears he won’t get a chance to experience his first Border Showdown with Mizzou.
