Kyle Freeland sets new Rockies record during Brewers game
Kyle Freeland has something to feel good about despite the Colorado Rockies having a tough season and suffering a 12-4 loss to the Milwaukee Brewers on Sunday at Coors Field in Denver, Colorado.
In the 12-4 loss to the visiting Brewers in the series finale, Freeland became the Rockies franchise’s all-time leader in innings pitched for the team.
“Rockies Kyle Freeland just set franchise record for most innings pitched: 1,312 2/3. He passes Aaron Cook. Congrats to a class act and Colorado native,” Patrick Saunders of The Denver Post shared via a social media post on X, formerly Twitter.
The Rockies also recognized Freeland’s record in the fifth inning.

Freeland started the contest for Colorado and pitched for five innings, allowing three earned runs on seven hits with a walk issued and two strikeouts.
The 33-year-old lefty has not played for any other team than the Rockies thus far in his career in the big leagues. Freeland first pitched in the majors in 2017 with Colorado and has since become a staple of the club’s rotation.
His best season with the Rockies to date came in 2018, when he went 17-7 with a 2.85 ERA through 33 starts and 202.1 innings, while posting a 1.245 WHIP, 3.67 FIP and a 166 ERA+. He also had 166 strikeouts that season, still a career high, while finishing fourth in the Cy Young Award voting in the American League.
As for the Rockies, they were swept by Milwaukee in the three-game series and saw their losing skid reach four games. They will attempt to snap their winless streak on Tuesday, when they start a three-game series against the Chicago Cubs at Coors Field.
