Knicks’ Mitchell Robinson sends heartwarming message to NY fans after NBA Finals win

The New York Knicks have left an entire city emotionally charged after landing their first NBA championship in 53 years. New York defeated the San Antonio Spurs 94-90 in Game 5 to win the Finals 4-1, riding on a 45-point display from Jalen Brunson.

At the same time, even the injured Mitchell Robinson, who played through pain despite a fractured fifth metacarpal in his right hand, did his part, putting up 10 rebounds alongside two assists and two points in 20 minutes of action. And well, he has now posted an emotional message on Instagram for Knicks fans, illustrating the journey he himself has had.

“I don’t even know where to begin the battles, the sacrifices, the mental breakdown, the disbelief in myself, the injuries, the surgeries, the mistakes and to be able to stay strong and bounce back from being in hell was all worth the ride I appreciate the fans and my friends and family for helping me get through all of that while fighting to get it done the sacrifices yall made for me throughout the years will never go unnoticed and unappreciated I can’t thank you all enough for everything y’ll got me through,” he wrote.

New York finished the playoffs with a 16-3 record and despite the dominant 4-1 margin, had to dig deep during the Finals. The title-clinching Game 5 win was no exception, as New York erased a 16-point deficit on the road to secure a 94-90 victory in San Antonio.

Brunson won the Finals MVP after averaging 32.6 points per game during the series. His 45 points in Game 5 also included 3 consecutive Knicks points during the fourth quarter.

Regardless, Robinson himself played a major role in his matchup against Victor Wembanyama. While Wembanyama’s length and rim protection consistently altered New York’s offense, Robinson helped neutralize some of the size advantage by challenging in the glass.

And well, he looks well on his way to re-signing with the Knicks, with the franchise reportedly pushing hard to keep the player.
